Laser cutters are fantastic tools that allow for intricacy and precision. While I used the laser cutters at Techshop to start Moonish Goods, I now have access to my very own! I use a Boss model 2436. It has a 24x36 inch bed (which means i can work on projects up to that size).
Laser Cutting
Acrylic, wood, leather, some fabrics, paper, felt cardboard and more. The most common thickness of wood I cut is 1/8 inch thick, but I've cut up to 1/2 inch. The best way to see examples of laser cutting see my Etsy Shop. Also check out some past collaborations.
Laser Engraving (Etching)
Any organic material can be engraved: wood, stone, glass. Anodized aluminum (available in various colors) can also be engraved as well as most acrylics. There is special laserable rubber with which I have created some pretty neat stamps.
Materials
Here are some swatches of the most common materials I use in both plywood and acrylic. Extra cost for fancier materials is on a project by project basis. We are not limited to these materials, so reach out if you have a question.
